Small Deer Devoured In A Short Time

I came across this unlucky little deer one morning last week.  It appears to have ventured out on the ice and it's back legs splayed out from under it.  When a deer goes down like this on the ice they can seldom get back up...

By the next day scavengers had found the carcass and were feeding on it...

By the third day almost nothing was left.  I never did see the animals that were feeding on this carcass.  I believe it was being done at night...

I apologize for the graphic photos.  I try to portray the natural world as I see it through my camera and sometimes it is not pretty.

Thanks for visiting.
