Pileated Woodpecker, a Rare Opportunity

This morning was overcast and the light was subdued.  I was not very optimistic about obtaining a usable image for the blog.  I was excited to spot this male pileated woodpecker looking for insects in a fallen log.  It tolerated my presence for about ten minutes, and I am grateful to have captured these images...
