Two Big Hooters and One Small One...

With the clear skies and promise of good light this morning I decided to visit the great horned owls again to see if they would respond to my calling two days in a row.  As luck would have it they came in immediately and kept me entertained for 90 minutes or more...

This one is trading "hoots" with me...

After hooting back and forth for a while, a flock of passing crows could not help investigating and harassing their age old enemies.  I don’t know why crows don’t like hawks or owls but if you live where both are present you have probably seen flocks of crows diving on raptors with apparent glee...

This owl seemed to take the attention from the crows in stride, even when they swooped within inches of its head.  Both owls continued to call throughout the assault...

After taking lots of photos I decided to look for other subjects.  I had only gone a short distance when I passed the tree where I had seen a screech owl a couple of weeks ago.  The little guy was back, so I took a few pictures of him, and decided the morning had been productive indeed...

Thanks for visiting...
