SOMETIMES I FAIL TO SEE THE OBVIOUS

I was looking for something, anything really, to photograph. But, try as I may, this section of forest seemed to be devoid of wildlife. As the sun climbed higher, it illuminated the forest floor differently with each passing minute. Suddenly I noticed an antler that I had not seen before...

Archery and muzzle loading hunting season for deer is open and my first thought was that a hunter had shot a buck and failed to recover it. Then the antler moved...

The light was playing tricks on my eyes, but I came to the realization that a buck was bedded down about sixty yards away...

After a while the buck stood and stretched...

After taking a few steps he laid back down...

I watched him a while longer and marveled at the way that he blended in with his surroundings...

When I left he was still there; chewing his cud and indifferent to the world going past.

Thanks for visiting, be well, and come back soon.
