What Clothes Should I Take To Yellowstone?

One of the frequently asked questions by visitors to the Yellowstone region is about what clothes to bring...

The weather is unpredictable and changes quickly in the mountains...

These images were taken on 6/9/19.  The temps regularly drop into the mid to low 30's at night in June and early July...

One should bring a warm coat with gloves, a light weight jacket, a pair of warm boots, a pair of light weight hiking boots and other clothes that can be layered.  There is a strong possibility of rain at least once each day so a rain jacket is in order...

The next image demonstrates the difference that changes in elevation can make.  One must consider this variable when planning hikes or other outdoor activities...

The following view is of the Blacktail Deer Plateau, home of the Eight Mile Creek wolf pack...

The Yellowstone region has one of the most pleasant climates that I have experienced with cool, crisp nights and moderately warm days.  Shorts and short sleeves are rarely seen until July, and sometimes not even then...

I will close with this image of a cinnamon colored black bear hoping to glean a final bite of protein from a road killed moose near the North East entrance...

Thanks for visiting, be well, and come back soon.
