Day One...Grizzly Bears

Thanks to a tip from our friend Bernie, the dedicated and self-taught naturalist who knows the grizzlies of Jackson Hole probably better than anyone else, we were able to have a grizzly encounter on our first full day in Jackson Hole.

The photos that follow are of a sow grizzly called "Willow" by the locals and her one year old cub...

Even though these bears do not reside in the park they spend most of their time near a well traveled road and show little fear of humans...

Thanks for visiting, be well, and stop back soon to see more photos of our visit to one of the most special places on earth.

  2. I have followed this bear and her cubs for several years affording me many photo and painting opportunities. she lost one of her cubs as road kill. The speed limit over Togwotee Pass is 55. Still too fast in my minds eye. And at night way too fast. Be observant and slow down. You are in an amazing part of the world. Unlike non other in the western hemisphere. Lets keep it wild and free. And in respect.
