Great Blue Heron

Great blue herons have always fascinated me, probably due to their size but also because they are readily visible and tolerant of my attempts to photograph them.  This individual is a local bird that regularly fishes in a small creek not far from our house...

I spent the better part of half and hour taking photos as it postured and moved from one end of a log to the other...

Zooming the Tamron 150-600mm all the way out to 600mm I rested the lens on my Puffin Pad and tried for some close up shots...

Soon it was back to preening and grooming itself...

Next it held out a wing to warm up and dry in the sunlight...

That must have felt good because it soon spread both wings...

Thanks for visiting, be well, and come back soon.
