Grand Teton Fox Family

The first fox that we saw on our recent trip was in the village of Moose, Wyoming which is in the southern-most part of Grand Teton National Park.  When we saw the fox it was just beginning to cross the Snake River on a concrete bridge.  It was using the pedestrian lane which kept it safe from passing traffic.  I urged Cheryl to hurry past and let me out on the far end of the bridge so I could get a shot as the fox arrived.  The following photo is the result.  The fox immediately turned left and disappeared into the sage brush...

Two days later, and twenty miles to the north, I came across another fox.  This one was carrying a mouthful of small rodents. My first thought was that it must have a litter of young to feed somewhere nearby...

 

The next morning I spotted another fox, this one with a muskrat, travelling on a similar route as the one the day before...

 

I was hoping that we would, somehow, locate the den and obtain photos of the litter these two adults were feeding. A week later as we were leaving the campground on our morning search for wildlife we spotted one of the adults not far from the road...

This prompted us to slow down and look into the woods more carefully.  Then we saw it, a large pile of dirt that marked the entrance to the den.  It was located only 100 yards from our campsite. We had been going right past it for ten days.  The next day was our last in Grand Teton so I went to the location of the den before sunrise and obtained the following photos...
