We ventured
out of the park and up to Togwotee Pass, where it was rumored that a grizzly
sow called Felicia (Grizzly # 863) was active with her first set of cubs…
This grizzly is well known to local
photographers because of her acceptance of human presence, and everyone was
hoping that this would be the year she would emerge from hibernation with cubs
following…
When she did
appear with two coy (cubs of the year) her little family delighted everyone and
slowed traffic to a crawl…
Felicia dug
for roots, bulbs and bugs within a few feet of the road. The photographers present moved to provide
her with adequate space to go wherever she wanted…
I felt that the interaction between the
people and the bears was a good example of how nature enthusiasts can observe
wildlife without law enforcement being involved…
After
spending our morning with Felicia and her coy, we were surprised to see a lone
sub-adult grizzly at Pilgrim Creek…
Thanks for visiting, be well, and come back soon.
