Captive Red-tailed Hawk

I recently had an opportunity to observe a captive juvenile red-tailed hawk taking an exercise flight.  The falconer called her "Tweety" and she is beautiful...

In the next photo she has been removed from the falconers vehicle and is about to be released...

She flew to a nearby limb, just as her handler had predicted...

She waited patiently to be called by her handler who offered her a tidbit of fresh meat...

She flew to his gloved arm to receive her reward...

I did not ask permission to identify the falconer so he shall remain anonymous.   He said that he will prepare the hawk for release soon, and she will be returned to the wild.

I am very grateful to have photographed this interesting interaction between the falconer and his bird.

Thanks for visiting, be well, and come back soon.
