The Girls of 399

The summer of 2008 left us with some wonderful memories of our trip to Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks. Grizzly 399 had sent her cubs away so that she could mate again, and these two females were hanging together while they tried to figure out what to do next...

Luckily for us they were often in view. This was the first time that I had the opportunity to photograph grizzly bears that weren't at a great distance. I was immediately hooked by the experience, as were all of our family. Almost annual trips followed for twelve years or so. I would like to think that we aren't done yet.

Thanks for visiting, be well, and come back soon.

  1. Poor young things, dumped by mama! But it happens everywhere in nature. I hope you get to see them again. And maybe their offspring.
