NOT BIRDS I SEE OFTEN

The first bird in this post is the Phainopepla. This was a new species for me. They seemed to be common in the area of Arizona that we were visiting...

The male is a glossy black with red eyes...

The females are gray. Both have a distinctive crest...

The next new species for me is the Verdin...

This is another bird of the desert, living in the Southwest and Mexico...

The male Vermilion Flycatcher is a colorful resident of the Southwest...

We saw this one in Tucson, Arizona...

I only took one shot of this Gambel's Quail in the Sonoran Desert...

This Northern Rough-winged Swallow paused from catching insects long enough for me to take a photo or two...

Red-tail Hawks are common where we live in Maryland, but I have never seen them nest in a cliff before. This one was in Utah...

Finally, Yellow Warblers are also common back home, but they are just too pretty not to photograph no matter where they are found. These were in Wyoming...

Thanks for visiting, be well, and come back soon.
