YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK (Part Four) Bison in the Yellowstone

We arrived at the head of the Hayden Valley just as this bison bull was finishing his swim across…










Even when the rivers are high, bison of all ages make the crossings as a routine matter…



Almost as soon as the lone bull crossed I saw two young bulls running for the crossing…






When they reached the river, instead of plunging in, they whirled and began sparring…







Finally, one of them remembered why they were at the crossing in the first place…






















After recuperating from their swim, both of the young bulls wandered off in the direction that the larger bison had gone…
