We eagerly
look forward to our yearly visit to the West.
It seems like the nine months between visits last so long.
The first
photo subjects that we encountered were birds including s spotted towhee…
Some yellow-rumped
warblers…
A broad
winged hawk…
Cliff swallows catching insects...
The first, second, and third mammals were moose…
As we entered
Grand Teton National Park we spotted a wolf that was approximately 600 yards
from the road…
Elk by the
hundreds are leaving the National Elk Refuge and migrating into the park…
Bison, too,
are making their return to their summer range…
Grizzly bear
#793 (aka Blondie) has been visible at the Dump Road and Pilgrims Creek…
I am
especially glad to see the three of them together. If normal grizzly bear behavior holds true, Blondie will be kicking the two cubs out soon so that she can mate again…
The largest part of a bears diet is vegetable matter. In these photos they are digging for roots, bulbs, insects and the occasional ground squirrel...
We were
fortunate to see a beautiful, cinnamon phase black bear…
One evening
a red fox entertained us for a few minutes as it hunted near the road…
The fox finally moved on, empty handed/jaws...
When the
wildlife sightings grew slow, we walked the dog and watched an ice fisherman…
At the top of Signal Mountain a squirrel was busy eating pine nuts...
Thanks for visiting, be well, and come back soon...
