Some Birds Of The Week

This seems to be a good time of year to locate birds that will be hidden by foliage soon.  Owls, in particular, seem to be on the "favorite" list of many.  This barred owl was found on a public trail mentioned in an earlier post...

The habitat that borders this trail must be ideal for owls as they are frequently seen by those who seek them.  As the day advanced the wind began gusting and his great horned owl had to grip tenaciously to avoid being blown from its perch...

I was surprised by the number of people who walked by without noticing the owl, even though I was pointing my 150-600 mm lens at him as they passed...

On an earlier day I was fortunate to find a great blue heron during the "golden hour" when the first rays of the morning sun lent a beautiful cast to the scene...

Although these turkey gobblers appear to be the same size, notice the difference in their beards...

More colorful wood ducks are arriving each day, making even the boring muddy creek banks come alive with color...

Finally, one of the smallest birds in the forest, the brown creeper...

Thanks for visiting, please share with your friends, be well and stop back soon.
