November Magic Continues

I have been spending at least part of every day watching the  rut progress.  Today I watched a buck try to keep a doe cornered in an alfalfa field.  She must have been very close to estrus and he did not want any other bucks moving in...

When she moved he dogged her every step...

Earlier, before the sun was fully up, this smaller buck came into the field...

I waited with anticipation as he moved into the first rays of light...

Early morning or late evening light is the time that photographers dream about...

This button buck is one of a pair that seemed confused by the rut...

At times they took their frustration out on each other...

Another buck that I have been seeing regularly is this half rack...

He lost the right side of his rack, possibly in a fight for breeding rights...

Here are the objects of all the frantic activity in the deer woods...

Does that are on the verge of estrus...

The next three images are of a larger buck that I have not been able to catch in the open for a good photograph...

This is the sight impatient hunters and photographers see when they have alarmed the deer.  The white flags disappearing into the woods as they race away...

Thanks for visiting, be well, and come back soon.
