Osage Orange

The Osage Orange (Maclura pomifera)


A common and interesting plant found in many areas of the continental US.  It has a long history and many uses, to learn more about it click here.  Over the years I have photographed assorted birds feeding on the fruit of this tree…



Eastern Gray Squirrels enjoy them…

 
As do Eastern Fox Squirrels…


Just a few days ago, for the first time, I found a doe eating one.  She seemed to be relishing every bite…




 
There is always something new to see, and learn, from nature.
