Since this was our first trip to the area, we decided to drive through the game lands and orient ourselves to some of the elk range.
One of the most notable features to me was the large number of "hunting camps" that seemed to be everywhere. Some were luxurious, but most were utilitarian appearing. Following are some of the many camps in the area...
Some had matching "out houses", also known as "back houses" or just "the facilities"...
The next "camp" is a modern facility known as the MacDarvey Castle (http://www.macdarveycastle.com/). It is a commercial endeavor that can be rented for a weekend get-away, honeymoon or any other function the renter desires...
The one in the next photo is a school or church that fell into private hands...
The camp shown in the photo on the left, and the following two, was interesting in that the out-house was positioned very close to a small stream that ran through the property...
Thanks for visiting.
I like the elk head sticking out of the side of the church or school. Looks like he was just running through for a little religion or education.
ReplyDeleteThere was a good bit of originality and imagination apparent in some of the camps. Many were quite old and had been in use for generations....Steve
