Snapping Turtles at Lilypons

At the entrance to Lilypons Water Gardens this Eastern Kingbird gathers nest material...



Also looking for nest sites were a number of Snapping Turtles...




Having already selected her nest site this female is busy laying eggs...


The following day her nest was still intact...


Many nests are discovered by predators and the eggs eaten...


Hopefully her nest will succeed in producing the next generation of snapping turtles.
