Visit to Lilypons Water Garden

I spent the last seven days visiting the Lilypon Water Gardens hoping to find something of interest to photograph.  From past experience I should have known not to worry about a shortage of subject matter.  The first thing I saw as I approached was an osprey, with a koi clutched in its’ talons, being chased by two bald eagles trying to claim the koi…

I don’t know if the eagles were successful because the osprey went downstream and one eagle went upstream and I lost track of the osprey and the second eagle…

I later saw the osprey flying overhead looking for another fish.  I took some photos before it flew out of sight…

From the same spot where the osprey and eagle photos were taken I could see a blue heron rookery…

In one pond a greater yellowlegs was searching for nightcrawlers…

A male red-winged blackbird was singing to attract a female…

While watching for snipe in the cattails I saw this swamp sparrow…

The snipe did finally appear and allow me to take a few photos…

These blue-winged teal landed in a nearby pond…

Canada Geese are regular visitors and residents at Lilypons.  These two were on a small waterway…

This goose was coming in to join the others at sunrise…

Thanks for visiting the Lilypons Water Garden with me.
