I have studied my bird books intently but I can't positively identify this sandpiper. Note the distinctive white eye ring, which should aid in identification. Another hint is that it was smaller than a robin. If you know what it is please leave a comment. Oh, by the way, my best guess is "Solitary Sandpiper". Really, that is the name of a species. Who could make that up?
NEWS FLASH: After reviewing the photographs, and my bird books, again I now think it could be a Lesser Yellowlegs. Do any viewers have an opinion to share?
