Not too far after entering YNP, through the East entrance, there is a large, very pronounced hair-pin curve at Cub Creek. We were just past the midway point of the curve when we saw two cars pulled off to the side of the road. Cheryl pulled over to see what was going on (you always want to do this in Yellowstone) and when I stepped out I was about 15 feet from this adolescent grizzly bear. I would guess him to be almost three years old and close to 300 pounds. He was very cooperative and allowed me to photograph him for some time before he headed out for parts unknown…
