Jams, Not Jelly, In The Park...

Buffalo jam, wolf jam, badger jam and just about every other form of animal jam is one of the things every visitor to Yellowstone National Park (YNP) has to learn to tolerate. My advice is to leave the “we have to hurry up and get there” attitude at home when trying to observe, and get in the rhythm, of the natural world. Trust me, the bison don’t care that you want to make it back to Lake Hotel for the dinner hour. As a visitor, you have invaded their home and all tourists need to be flexible because in YNP the critters always have the right of way.

Here is what a classic Bison Jam might look like...

An Elk Jam might be more like this...

Here is an example of a Bison Herd Jam...

This little fellow was trying to make his parents proud and create a "Baby Bison Jam"...

Just bear in mind that you are visitors in their world and try not to be stressed by the "inconvenience".
