We have lived in the same quasi-rural neighborhood for 23 years. I have always wondered what visited our yard while we were asleep. I bought two inexpensive motion triggered trail cameras and mounted them in the backyard.
Some of the visitors were predictable, some, not so much.
It was no surprise to see an image of our cat...
I learned that we have several opossums that visit almost nightly...
Rabbits are frequently seen...
Skunks announce their presence aromatically. Our dog was just sprayed last week...
Racoons stop by occasionally...
The back yard groundhog is a daytime visitor...
From the first day we were seeing a fox on the camera...
Deer pass through regularly...
The biggest surprise has been a coyote. At first the photos were not very good, so the I.D. was not conclusive...
Later images removed all doubt...
We have never seen, or heard, a coyote in our neighborhood. It makes one wonder what will be the next unexpected visitor?

I lived in Myersville in a neighborhood where my house backed to trees and 2 years ago on Christmas morning I saw a coyote run out from the trees. I was stunned as I had never heard one or seen one in the 7 years we had lived there. Having lived in Bend Oregon for many years, I would see them, so knew without a doubt it was a coyote. I felt like it was a present and so happy I was there to witness it.
