BEAVER QUEST-Part II

Each morning I have continued to visit the beaver family that I posted about in the first "Beaver Quest" post.   Many, if not most, of these photos will display a great deal of "noise" due to the high ISO at which they were taken, which was mostly 6400.   Beavers are nocturnal animals and I have found that my best photo opportunities are the first 60-90 minutes of the morning.  Trying to cope with the movement of the animals, and the limited light, dictates using the highest ISO that will deliver satisfactory results. 

I have especially enjoyed seeing the kits and observing their activities.  Here are some of the youngsters...

This one is eating grass at the edge of the creek...

After eating their fill they head back to the den...

This kit is bringing a stick to add to the food cache...

He's a mightly little beaver to be chewing on that tree...

I think he finally realized that he needed to find something more appropriate for his size...

This older kit has ventured a little farther away from the safety of the water to find grass...

As the beavers grow accustomed to my presence they swim very close to me and show no alarm...

After securing a strip of bark this one returned to the den to eat or share it with the kits...

The comings and goings of the family remains fairly constant until about 0800 when it gradually comes to an end...

This kit is visiting the food cache and seems to be enjoying his snack...

This photo shows a bank den.  The sticks are not part of the structure.  They are food, gathered at the entrance to be consumed later...
